Montenegro

Day trip to Montenegro. 5 people total in our tiny vehicle for the tour, and two were from Denver. They informed us that Montenegro was the setting for the recent James Bond movie Casino Royale. It is a very poor country and possibly the youngest. Exactly 1 year ago today (June 3) they declared indendence from Serbia.

Our tour guide was pitiful and reminded us we don't need to take any 'guided' tours. "This is a hotel. That is church. On the left is a view. Montenegrans are very tall." Well he was right about the being tall part. They all towered over us! Really good basketball players.

This place is magical. Next to this real island is a manmade island called Our Lady of the Rock. In the 1400s a painting of Mary was found on a small reef and they declared it a miracle. Ever since then they have sank ships and thrown rocks (took 200 years) to create an island. They built a church (of course) and every year they celebrate by (you guessed it) throwing more rocks.

You can see why the James Bond movie was filmed here. It is a remarkable country, but I think the GDP is lower than the millions spent on the movie (or gambled in the movie!)

Budva, Montenegro - tiny town with a great feel. Check out Tara showing a little leg. Such a flirt!
